History of the Ministry of Higher Education
Higher Education was established on November 8th, 1932 in Kabul city for the first time by the establishing of medical faculty.
Kabul University was established in 1946.
Then, in 1964, Nangarhar University and in the year of 1969 Kabul Polytechnic University were established.
Next, in 1997, the Ministry of Higher Education was founded as major academic organ to improve higher education institutions.
Also, in 1994, based on the instruction of the government, technical and vocational education war transferred from the Ministry of Higher Education to the Ministry of Education, and as a result, 42 technical and vocational institutions with all structures and budgets were Separated from the Ministry of Higher Education and transferred to the Ministry of Education.
Finally, all the educational institutions which had a bachelor system were taken from the Ministry of Education, and included in the setting up of the Ministry of Higher Education
